The course, dedicated to Ottaviano Alberti, is open to all singers and instrumentalists and dancers who are interested in the repertoire of the XVI, XVII, XVIII and the beginning of the XIX century. The aim of this course is to examine the executive techniques relative to each historical period. Students of different levels are welcome even if they do not have their own original instrument. In the morning there will be individual lessons for each discipline and in the afternoon there will be group musical activities.

Orte International Organ Festival (23rd August – 13th September) and the Ottava di Sant’Egidio (31st August – 14th September) with its musical and theatre shows, tournaments, traditional folk games, and characteristic Medieval taverns, will frame the Course.

Ensemble music laboratories will be organized at three different levels: elementary, intermediate and advanced. The elementary level course will focus on the Renaissance Repertoire (dances, grounds, songs) for different voices, duets, and trios of the early Seventeenth century. The intermediate level course will deal with songs from the instrumental suite of “The Fairy Queen” and “King Arthur” by H. Purcell. The advanced level course will concentrate on the solo repertoire connected with each specific instrument (sonatas, cantatas, trios).

The teachers’ concert will be held on Friday 12th at 7:00pm, during the International Festival of Organ and Ancient Instruments – 7th Edition. On that day no lessons will be held.

The singing, lute, violin, violoncello, recorder and flute courses will only be held if a minimum of three participants is enrolled. The harpsichord and dance course will only be held if a minimum of five participants is enrolled.

All students are invited to fill in the application form and contact us before August 10th . It would be very helpful if you could respect this deadline in order to help us help you!
